The Royal Mint has released a collection of commemoratives to honor the legendary rock band, Pink Floyd.

Designed by Henry Gray, the coin’s reverse features the prism from the cover of Pink Floyd’s 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon, with the refracted light in full color on the silver and brilliant-uncirculated color versions. The text THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON and PINK FLOYD surrounds the design. Martin Jennings’s effigy of King Charles III appears on the obverse.

The commemorative is available in brilliant uncirculated, brilliant uncirculated color, silver proof color (1- and 10-ounce versions), silver proof (2 and 5 ounce), and gold proof (1/40, 1/4, and 1 ounce). All examples come in themed packaging that incorporates motifs related to Pink Floyd, as well as information on the band’s history. Additionally, fans can purchase a limited-edition print of the coin signed by Gray.

The products are available on the Royal Mint’s website.

Pink Floyd

Formed in 1965 by Syd Barrett (guitar and vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass guitar and vocals), and Richard Wright (keyboard and vocals), Pink Floyd is one of the best-selling bands of all time, with over 250 million records purchased worldwide. The band’s albums Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall (released in 1979) are in the Grammy Hall of Fame. Four Pink Floyd albums topped the U.S. Billboard 200, and five topped the UK Albums Chart.

The band released its last album, The Endless River, in 2014. It later produced the song “Hey, Hey, Rise Up!” in 2022 in protest of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
