The Monnaie de Paris has released the sixth and final coin in its Independence of the United States collection. It reimagines the Libertas Americana medal, originally designed by Benjamin Franklin and engraved by Augustin Dupré, on a new release. In the original design, Minerva, representing France, protects an infant United States from a lion. On the 2026 version, Lady Liberty now represents the United States, and Minerva stands to her left. The two figures hold the flame of liberty, and the legend LIBERTAS POPULUSQUE UNIVERSALIS (“freedom and universal people”) appears above, and 4 JULI 2026 is below. Liberty’s bust appears on the reverse with a staff bearing a liberty cap on her right shoulder, and LIBERTAS AMERICANA is inscribed above.

The 2026 release includes .999-fine silver €25 and €250 coins, both struck in antique high relief. Additionally, gold €50, €200, and €500 are available, with the €200 and €500 coins struck in antique high relief.

The 2026 releases, as well as the other releases in the Independence of the United States series, are available on the Monnaie de Paris’s website.
