On December 8, Ireland-based coin designer and wholesaler Tara Coins announced the popular retailer APMEX as the U.S. distributor for its Tree of Life gold and silver rounds. Distributors in the European Union include Gold Bank, Celtic Gold, Merrion Gold, Bullion by Post, and GVS Bullion.

The 1 troy ounce silver coin depicts the Newgrange tri-spiral on the obverse. The tri-spiral design, originally found in an ancient temple in Ireland, dates back to 3200 B.C. and is one of the world’s oldest symbols. ÉIRE, the Irish word for Ireland, also appears on the obverse, along with the coin’s weight and fineness and the year of issue. The gold coin features the Newgrange tri-spiral to the left and the glorious Gaelic harp to the right, with a setting sun below. ÉIRE appears above the three symbols. The reverse is the same for both issues and depicts the Tree of Life with the legend LOVE • JOY • ABUNDANCE • UNITY. APMEX is also selling a silver version of the gold coin with a mintage of 11,999.
