The Monnaie de Paris marks the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day with a collection of commemorative coins celebrating Germany’s surrender during World War II on May 8, 1945. The series complements the pieces that the mint released last year for the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings on D-Day, featuring four soldiers from the four major Allied nations. For the 2025 releases, the soldiers are scattered across Europe and Asia, celebrating the return of peace with one voice.

Each solider is depicted on a 1/4 euro and a silver 10 euro. Gold 50 euros are reserved for just the French and British soldiers, while a gold 200 euro highlights only the French fighter. The French soldier is shown in the Netherlands, the American in Czechoslovakia, the British in Singapore, and the Canadian in Germany. The common reverse features all the Allied countries that officially took part in the Normandy landings. The stars under the flags are a tribute to the Liberty Road and its milestones that mark the route followed by the 3rd American Army in liberating France as far as Luxembourg.

The collection is completed by a commemorative 10 euro dedicated to peace and remembrance, symbolized by doves flying over the Arc de Triomphe and the flame of the Unknown Soldier. Mintage of all pieces is limited. To learn more and to order, visit the Monnaie de Paris’s website.
