This week’s headlines include bullion’s tariff exemption, the 2025 NNP Symposium, a Supreme Court of Canada commemorative, and the upcoming National Coin Week.

Gold is officially exempt from the new tariffs issued by President Donald Trump. An official fact sheet released by the White House states that some goods will not be subject to the Reciprocal Tariff, including “bullion,” which is commonly understood to mean gold, and likely includes silver, platinum, and palladium.

The Newman Numismatic Portal (NNP) 2025 NNP Symposium will take place April 24-26 in conjunction with the Central States Numismatic Society Convention in Schaumburg, Illinois. The NNP Symposium is a free event that offers approximately 20 presentations on a wide array of numismatic topics.

The Royal Canadian Mint will unveil the design of a $1 circulation coin commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Supreme Court of Canada on April 8.

National Coin Week will take place April 20-26. This year’s theme is “Iconic Change: Pop Culture and Coins Unite!” Activities and events will focus on how pop culture has been represented in numismatics throughout the years. Visit money.org/national-coin-week for more information and resources.
