For the first time since 1914, the Monnaie de Paris will sell gold investment coins. Monnaie de Paris Chief Marc Schwartz stated the goal of the release is to “democratize the gold market in France” as investor demand for gold continues to rise.

The obverse of the new release features an artistic profile of Marianne—the French symbol of liberty. A map of the nation’s territories appears on the reverse. The gold bullion coins will be offered in four weights, ranging from 1/10 of an ounce to 1 ounce.

Additionally, the Monnaie de Paris will offer digital e-Marianne gold for investors who want to avoid the process of storing and protecting physical gold. The digital Marianne gold is managed online and can be converted at any time into physical currency.

Both versions will be available starting June 16 on the Monnaie de Paris’s website.
