Fellowship of the Coins

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Peter Jackson’s The Fellowship of the Ring, the Monnaie de Paris will release three waves of collector coins dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendary fantasy trilogy.

The first set, released on March 23, includes 14 coins: five colorized silver €10; four silver €10; two colorized silver €50; and a gold €100, €250, and €500. The mintages are 50,000 (€10); 10,000 (€50); 15,000 (€100); 10,000 (€250); and 3,000 (€500). Each coin features a common reverse design with the denomination and RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE framed by olive branches and oak branches. The obverses feature elements, scenes, and characters from the movies:

• Gollum
• The Battle of Helm’s Deep
• Aragorn and Minas Tirith
• Frodo and Sam
• Gandalf and the Shire
• Merry, Pippin, and Treebeard
• The One Ring
• Leaf of Lórien

Additionally, the Monnaie de Paris is offering the nine €10 coins as a set in an illustrated box.
