Canadian World Cup Commems

In honor of hosting 13 FIFA World Cup matches, the Royal Canadian Mint has released an official commemorative $1 circulating coin. “We are proud to have crafted a lasting keepsake that Canadian fans can hold onto while they unite in cheering their team during their first-ever home soil appearance in a World Cup tournament,” says Simon Kamel, interim president and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint. 

Designed by Glen Green, the reverse features the top half of the FIFA26 CAN maple leaf mosaic emblem at the bottom, with the emblem in red and orange on the colorized version. Above, from left to right, is the official FIFA World Cup 2026 logo, a Canadian maple leaf, and a soccer ball with TORONTO and VANCOUVER below. Additionally, the inscription FIFA WORLD CUP 26 appears at the top of the coin. The French translation (COUPE DU MONDE DE LA FIFA 26) is also inscribed at the bottom. The obverse features Steven Rosati’s effigy of King Charles III.

The commemorative is available in a special wrap roll with limits of 35,000 (colorized), 20,000 (non-colorized), and 5,000 for roll box sets with both versions. A five-coin set is also available. which includes the colorized and non-colorized circulating coins, as well as three nickel commemoratives featuring different motifs related to the World Cup (the World Cup trophy, the Canadian men’s national soccer team mascot, and two men playing soccer). The Royal Canadian Mint circulating $1 coin joins the U.S. Mint and Monnaie de Paris collections, as well as the special-edition Scotland bank note, as recent numismatic collectibles related to the upcoming FIFA World Cup, to be held June 11 to July 19.
