To celebrate the upcoming anniversaries of its gold and silver Britannia bullion coins, the Royal Mint is releasing special editions of the popular coins in 2027.

Both coins will feature a special wave privy mark with their respective anniversaries (40 years for the gold coin and 30 for its silver counterpart), as well as a background texture that incorporates the years. Philip Nathan’s classic depiction of Britannia appears on the reverse of both coins, with King Charles III’s portrait on the obverse. The coins also include four advanced security features (microtext, latent images, tincture lines, and surface animation) to prevent counterfeiting and enable easy authentication.

The anniversary coins are available in a range of packaging options, ranging from single examples in different weights to 10-coin tubes and 100- and 500-coin boxes. All are available on the Royal Mint’s website.

Britannia Bullion

First launched in 1987, the Britannia bullion series has been a popular bullion option from the Royal Mint. The original gold coin featured Nathan’s depiction of Britannia carrying a shield, olive branch, and trident. The Royal Mint released a silver version in 1997, which depicted Britannia on a chariot led by two horses. Britannia’s portrait on the coins has evolved over the years to continue to reflect Britain.
