In the same spirit as its 2025 collection honoring France’s favorite domesticated animals, the Monnaie de Paris has unveiled a set of commemoratives to celebrate the animals of the world. The collection includes six €5 coins, as well as a €500 gold specimen.

The six base-metal commemoratives each feature three species from the following animal groups: savannah creatures (elephant, giraffe, and rhino); big cats (leopard, lion, and tiger); pandas (giant panda, koala, and red panda); polar animals (penguin, polar bear, and seal); marine critters (dolphin, sea turtle, and clownfish); and birds (hummingbird, ostrich, and parrot). Each coin depicts the three animals in the center with a border containing elements indicative of the animals’ habitat and traits. The gold example features one animal from each group. A globe and the legend LES ANIMAUX DU MONDE (“the animals of the world”) appear in the center. The common reverse bears an oak branch and laurel branch, along with the issuing country and denomination.

The Animals of the World collection is available on the Monnaie de Paris’s website.
