9/11 Commemorated on 2026 Half Dollars

On August 21, the U.S. Mint presented 2,983 Enduring Liberty half dollars with special privy marks to the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum in honor of the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The privy mark includes the date 9/11/01 encircled by the phrase ALWAYS REMEMBER. The coins were produced at the West Point Mint and were delivered in preparation for the museum’s remembrance event next month. 

“This coin is a tangible representation of the strength it took for our nation to look forward, both 250 years ago at its founding, but more poignantly 25 years ago, as the world was changed forever,” says U.S. Mint Director Paul Hollis. “While we will never forget those fateful attacks, our nation continues to pass the torch of enlightenment to future generations in remembrance and in honor of the 2,983 victims.”
