The first series of WitterBricks sold out within minutes of their release, and two of the cheapest options (priced at $375 each) went to a coin collector from the East Coast. The collector happily discovered that one of the boxes contained a valuable 1907 Saint-Gaudens high-relief double eagle (gold $20) with a CACG grade of Mint State-64. The collector quickly consigned it to GreatCollections. The coin has already received 33 bids and stands at $37,000 at the time of this writing.

WitterBricks contain only high-quality coins graded by CACG, with special labels hand-signed by Seth Chandler, the company’s founder. Buyers are guaranteed to receive at least 70 percent of the purchase price in CACG Price Guide value, while some lucky buyers will receive much higher-valued coins.

“What a thrill for the consignor, to have opened the WitterBrick and discovered the 1907 High Relief,” says Chandler. “He has generously agreed to donate part of the proceeds to the Witter Coin University, and I will match whatever he donates personally.”

The 1907 high-relief double eagle is currently on display at the Baltimore Coin Expo, which runs through November 16. Bidding for the coin ends on November 17. To learn more and to bid, visit GreatCollections’s website.
