Uncounterfeitable Art Up for Auction

A magnificent piece of original, high-tech numismatic art has hit the auction block. Created by NFP.io and Laura Verschoore to benefit the American Numismatic Association during the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the painting features the legendary 1913 Liberty Head nickel once owned by J.V. McDermott, then Aubrey and Adeline Bebee. This storied coin now resides in the ANA’s Edward C. Rochette Money Museum collection.

An Artwork of Innovation

With only five known, the 1913 Liberty Head nickel’s rarity, mystery, and provenance have captivated generations of collectors. In homage to the coin’s intrigue, artist Laura Verschoore has created a work of fine art using NFP.io’s patented secure substrate authentication technology. Developed to protect high-security documents and bank note materials, this breakthrough technology has been applied to a museum-quality artwork for the first time.

During manufacture, UV-reactive stochastic markers were permanently embedded throughout the three-dimensional structure of the canvas. Their naturally random arrangement creates a unique physical identity that can be neither duplicated nor replicated. Much like a fingerprint or DNA, the resulting forensic signature belongs exclusively to this artwork and remains with it for its lifetime.

Combining groundbreaking technology, artistic beauty, and numismatic intrigue, this high-tech piece of art will be on display at Table 1013 at the ANA World’s Fair of Money®  in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 25-27. Closing on the evening of August 27 in DLRC’s Red Carpet Rarities Auction, the artwork is open for bidding now.
