The U.S. Mint launched an updated version of its Coin Classroom website on Thursday, December 19. The revamped page is the U.S. Mint’s second major web project in the past 45 days. Coin Classroom includes numismatic games, videos, and resources for children and educators. The redesigned website features refreshed graphics, improved mobile responsiveness, and a simpler navigation system.

The U.S. Mint collaborated with its parent agency, the Department of Treasury, to complete the update. “I enjoyed collaborating with the U.S. Mint team,” says Kate McCurley, an I.T. specialist at the Department of the Treasury. “It’s rare to see a government site that’s creative and educational with games and animated characters. I hope the students and potential future numismatists enjoy interacting with the site.”

The U.S. Mint Coin Classroom was first launched in 1999 as part of a wider educational effort to increase young people’s interest in coins. The U.S. Mint’s educational program, including the Coin Classroom website as well as other events, videos, and printed materials, reaches over 1 million people a year.
