To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, President Donald J. Trump’s signature will be included on all future U.S. paper currency, appearing alongside that of the Secretary of the Treasury. This marks the first time a sitting president’s signature will appear on U.S. currency.

Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent emphasizes that this decision reflects the administration’s confidence in the country’s economic growth. He noted that, under President Trump’s leadership, the United States has achieved significant economic expansion, long-term dollar strength, and improved fiscal stability. In a press release announcing the move, he says, “There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S. dollar bills bearing his name, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the semiquincentennial.”

Treasurer Brandon Beach also highlights the symbolic importance of this change, describing the addition of the president’s signature as a fitting tribute to Trump, whom he says has made his mark on history as the “architect of America’s Golden Age economic revival.”
