Trump $1 Coin Design Debut

The first official images of a 2026 commemorative $1 coin bearing President Donald Trump’s portrait have been released ahead of the coin’s planned debut later this year. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent shared photos of the coin on X on July 15, describing the release as part of the nation’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence.

“As America commemorates 250 years of independence, the U.S. Mint will begin striking this new $1 gold coin to honor the enduring legacy of liberty and a lasting symbol of patriotism,” Bessent wrote. He added that the coin “celebrates the strength of American values, and the promise of a nation dedicated to preserving freedom for all.”

According to the U.S. Treasury, the coin is currently being produced at the U.S. Mint’s Philadelphia facility and is scheduled for release in the fall. The piece features a gold-colored finish but does not contain any precious metals. The final design differs from artwork approved earlier this year by the Commission of Fine Arts. Earlier renderings depicted Trump leaning over a desk, while the final version shows only the president’s portrait.

Additional details, including pricing, mintage, and ordering information, are expected to be announced closer to the coin’s release.
