A bucket full of candy certainly makes the mouth water, but a couple weeks from now, all that remains will be a pile of wadded wrappers. For a Halloween memento that lasts a lifetime, look no further than these scary-good pieces.

Pop Culture

1. Now in its fifth season, the Netflix series Stranger Things has been popular since its release in 2016. The Perth Mint celebrates the highly watched show with a 2026 two-piece coin collection. A 2-ounce silver coin highlights the gruesome villian Vecna flanked by demogorgons. As if these creatures weren’t scary enough, the effect is enhanced with an antiqued finish and select red elements. The second issue, a 1-ounce colorized silver piece, features a dual design with the upper half illustrating Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Eleven on an adventurous bike ride, while the lower half shows Will in the eerie Upside Down.

2. Last year, Powercoin partnered with Warner Bros. to release a series of coins for the island nation of Niue. With colorized depictions of cult characters including Beetlejuice, Pennywise, and Scooby Doo, these silver pieces carry nostalgia for Halloweens of the past.

3. The Royal Mint has issued 2025 gold and silver bullion Count Dracula coins, honoring Bram Stoker’s Gothic horror story. Joel Iskowitz’s reverse design renders the archetypal vampire in imaginative detail. Silhouettes of bats fly against his outstretched cape, and his ominous castle appears in the distance framed within a full moon.

4. Scottsdale Mint’s 2025 Halloween colorized silver bars are available in a range of motifs. From a muscular interpretation of Frankenstein’s monster, to a headless cowboy on the hunt, to an American werewolf, these vivid designs tell a story with their dynamic characters.

Stylized Silver American Eagles

5. A few private mints have turned a favorite silver coin into a frightful memento. A 2025 American Eagle from the Germania Mint, inspired by Claws of Fear, features a horrifying depiction of Freddy Krueger on the reverse. On the obverse, a gold-plated Liberty stands out against a red-and-black striped background that is reminiscent of Krueger’s famous shirt. SWEET DREAMS is scrawled threateningly to the left.

6. The Ruthenium Mint offers a 2025 American Eagle that celebrates Halloween night. Liberty is transformed into a walking nightmare in full color with a jack-o-lantern head, scythe, and flowing red gown. The eagle on the reverse is shown morphing into a bat with its wings spread, perched against a crimson sky.

Tokens and Hobo Nickels

7. The Shire Post Mint offers a collection of affordable tokens, such as an “I Win/You Lose” decision maker, a copper coffin-shaped issue, and a blue Roswell alien artifact piece, to name a few. From clever to creepy, these tokens cover all the spooky season vibes.

8. Things that go bump in the night, especially skeletons, are a popular theme in the world of hobo nickels. There’s no shortage of Buffalo nickels that feature the Indian head as a skull, and some examples, such as this ring, spotlight the buffalo instead. (For more information about hobo nickels in general, visit the Original Hobo Nickel Society’s website.)

Outside the Box

9. Those who are in the market for haunting collectibles that are outside the bounds of traditional symbols would be intrigued by CIT Coin Invest Trust’s Trapped series, which ran from 2019 to 2023. Struck in ultra-high relief with smartminting technology, these pieces present a window into chilling scenes of horror, playing with the idea that the coin’s canvas is not a place of honor, but a dangerous prison.

10. The moon is an iconic supernatural symbol, and the Royal Canadian Mint creatively celebrates its phases with an eight-piece puzzle coin set. Black rhodium plating creates a high-contrast night view for this 2025 wildlife-themed set. Seven puzzle pieces, plunged into darkness, encircle a central coin that bears a full moon. Each puzzle piece contains the same scene, but silver highlights reveal a different phase of the moon and a different animal per piece, offering a glimpse into what goes on in the wild after dark.
