Successful Showcase Auction

Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ June 2026 Showcase Auction was a multi-million-dollar success, with prices shattering records left and right. This seven-session sale featured 3,200 lots spanning U.S. coins, colonial and pre-federal issues, federal rarities, territorial and pattern coinage, numismatic Americana, medals, tokens, and physical cryptocurrency. The auction realized nearly $13.2 million—the highest-ever total for a Summer Whitman Expo Showcase Auction.

Showcase Auction Highlights

Taking the top spot overall was the unique Judd-1566 1878 pattern quarter eagle (gold $2 1/2), which brought $439,200, exceeding its previous record of $432,000 achieved in 2022. Several other notable lots included a gold 1945 Franklin Roosevelt inaugural medal (realized $146,400), a vividly toned 1911 Barber half dollar from the Young-Dakota Collection ($48,800), an 1879 $4 gold Stella ($79,300), a 1966 Washington quarter struck on a 90-percent silver planchet ($41,480), an 1868 Liberty Head eagle (gold $10) ($146,400), and a 2013 silver Casascius 1 Bitcoin ($88,450).
