The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College recently hosted an opening night reception for the Purple Heart Exhibition. The event highlighted the original artwork for the Purple Heart Badge of Military Merit, designed by John Sinnock, former Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. Presented in partnership with the City of Colorado Springs and the Edward C. Rochette Money Museum, the exhibition featured four special displays: Military Medals, The Purple Heart Original Drawings, George Washington’s Life Mask, and highlights from the Baker-Manley Washingtonia Collection.

The evening opened with a flag ceremony, followed by remarks from city representatives and Caroline Turco, Assistant Curator at the Money Museum. Turco offered historical context on the Purple Heart’s legacy and provided an overview of key pieces in the exhibition.

In honor of Veterans Day, the exhibition continued the next morning at the Money Museum, where admission was complimentary for veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families. The event celebrated the enduring symbolism of the Purple Heart while honoring America’s servicemembers.
