Parsons Coin Club Celebrates America 250

Throughout September, the Parsons Coin Club in Kansas is hosting events and exhibits of coins and medals that celebrate American life. The club will display items related to America 250, the bicentennial, 9/11, the Constitution, and the local community at the Parsons Public Library starting on August 31. 

The ANA has donated several copies of A Guide Book of United States Coins (the “Red Book”) to the club. Paying it forward, the club will donate two copies to the local library. “We are grateful to the staff at the Parsons Library for this opportunity to show their patrons actual examples of the coins and medals that commemorate life in America,” says Dave Sorrick, club member and ANA district representative. “We are also holding events in and near Parsons this month to stir interest in the hobby of coin collecting.”

Calendar of Events

September 11: The Parsons Coin Club will offer free coin appraisals at the Labette Bank at 3 p.m. 

September 17: The club meets on the third Thursday of every month at the Parsons Senior Center at 5:30 p.m. The September meeting falls on the 17th, which is Constitution Day. The club will honor the U.S. Constitution with ticket drawings for coins related to it and 9/11. 

September 26: To be held in Galena, Kansas, the Route 66 Coin, Gold, and Silver Show will honor the 100th anniversary of the historic highway.
