Open for bidding, Heritage Auctions’ autumn U.S. obsolete currency sale brings over 600 lots representing a diverse array of private and state banks, merchants, railroads, and municipalities. Along with robust offerings from Texas, large groups of items from Tennessee, Mississippi, and other states are available from the Jerry Loegler Collection. At the time of this writing, the top three most popular lots are an 1837 Kirtland Safety Society Bank $5 (Ohio), 1837-40 Bank of Vicksburg $15 (Mississippi), and 1858 Bank of the State of Minnesota $5.

According to Heritage Auctions, “Steeped in American history and alive with finely engraved, charming designs, obsolete bank notes have a way of turning browsers into bidders—come see for yourself and take a bit of history and Americana home from this great showcase.” To view the lots, visit Heritage’s website. The auction closes October 19.
