The Mint of Finland will cease operations in Spring 2025. Founded in 1860, its closure marks the end of over a century of minting coins. Rising production costs and declining coin usage contributed to its financial challenges.

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a public meeting by videoconference on Tuesday, September 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. (EDT). The group will discuss designs for the Superman 2025 Comic Arts Coins and Medals and Lower Brule Sioux Tribe Code Talkers Congressional Gold Medals.

The Center for Jewish History in New York City will display coins, medals, and related items as part of its current exhibition, Jewry Reflected, Refracted, and Recorded on Medals. The free exhibit will run through December 31, 2024.
