This week’s headlines include Whitman’s Baltimore Expo, semiquincentennial coinage, the 200-shekel note, and Christmas commemoratives.

Whitman’s Baltimore Winter Expo will take place November 14-16 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The event will celebrate over 50 years of service to the numismatic community.

The U.S. Mint’s Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a two-day public meeting on October 15-16. CCAC members will discuss semiquincentennial coinage and 2026-28 American Eagle platinum proof coins.

The future of Israel’s 200-shekel note, the nation’s highest denomination, is uncertain. It is believed that eliminating the note could help prevent tax evasion and money laundering. Government officials are discussing the possibility of discontinuing the denomination.

The Royal Mint has unveiled its 2024 Christmas commemoratives and gifts. One of the new coins features The Gruffalo’s Child, a character from the beloved children’s book by Julia Donaldson. Other collectibles highlight figures from Star Wars, Harry Potter, and James Bond, among other series.
