This week’s headlines include unusual Australian doubled dies, the Royal Mint’s new sovereigns, a growing online resource, and a Canadian wheat-themed nickel.

Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) recently encapsulated two Australian coins—a 1943 half penny and 1977 2 cents—that both exhibit rare doubled die obverse varieties newly recognized by PCGS.

In 2025 the Royal Mint will produce a silver sovereign for the first time and its last rose-gold sovereign, returning to yellow gold from 2026 onward.
