This week’s headlines include CONECA at nationwide coin shows, Syrian redesigned bank notes, Forgotten Heroes medal, and Whitman’s Winter Coin Expo.

CONECA, the leading U.S. error and variety coin club, will examine coins for free at shows nationwide. CONECA will be at the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists (PAN) show October 16-18 and the Willamette Coin Club show November 15-16. CONECA will also have a table at the winter FUN show, January 8-11, 2026.

Syria will introduce new bank notes with no images, portraits, or national symbols. The minimalist design aims to enhance security, support digital compatibility, and reflect a modern identity focused on simplicity and functionality.

The CFA and CCAC recommended designs for a Forgotten Heroes congressional gold medal honoring 60 diplomats who saved Jews during WWII. Authorized by Public Law 118-149, the recommended obverse shows a hand stamping a passport—symbolizing hope, survival, and remembrance.

The newly discovered specimen of the 1804 dollar will be on display at Whitman’s Winter Coin Expo on November 6–8, 2025, at the Baltimore Convention Center. The event is open to the public with free admission.
