This week’s headlines include the ANS 2026 Trustees’ Award, 1804 dollar auction, John W. Dannreuther’s new book, and a resurgence in coin jewelry.

The American Numismatic Society (ANS) will honor Adam M. Levine, director and CEO at the Toledo Museum of Art, with its 2026 Trustees’ Award. The ANS will recognize Levine’s leadership and longstanding support of numismatics at the ANS Annual Gala on January 15.

Collectors have one more week to bid on Part I of James A. Stack Sr.’s remarkable 20th-century U.S. coin collection. Stack’s Bowers’ sale of rarities like the 1804 dollar (currently at $3.4 million), Bust dollars, Morgan dollars, and gold pieces concludes on December 9 .

John W. Dannreuther’s 1,254-page United States Proof Coins Volume III: Silver Part One is available for preorder for $325 through the end of December. Books are expected to be delivered around December 20.

The New York Times recently published an article about a resurgence in coin jewelry titled “From Ancient Coins Come Modern Jewelry.” The piece highlights artisan jewelers who transform authentic coins into art and market the pieces as “wearable history.”
