This week’s headlines include a CCAC public meeting, a Canadian fairy coin, a rare Germantown dollar, and privy marks on Flowing Hair gold coins.

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee will hold a public videoconference from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (ET) on November 19. The group will discuss Batman and Wonder Woman designs for the 2025 Comic Art Super Hero Coin and Medal Program, among other upcoming releases.

The Royal Canadian Mint has issued the newest and final addition to its Nutcracker series: a toonie in the shape of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The reverse of the 99.99-fine silver piece features the character wearing a pink dress and with purple fairy wings. Mintage is limited to 2,500.

Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) recently graded a rare, obsolete 1862 Bank of Germantown $1 note from Philadelphia. The central vignette features Arctic explorers fighting a polar bear. It is the first such note to be submitted to PCGS Banknote.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries will auction the U.S. Mint’s first 230 Flowing Hair high-relief gold coins in a standalone auction on December 12. Each features a “230” privy mark to designate its historical significance.
