This week’s headlines include Nepali bank notes, the U.S. Mint’s Rittenhouse Medal for Excellence, Britain’s 2026 Sovereign Collection, and a record-breaking 100 ducat.

All of Nepal’s bank notes will now be printed in China instead of India. New Nepali notes depict territories disputed with India, and China’s state-owned currency printer offers lower costs along with advanced security features.

The U.S. Mint recently awarded Jeremiah Ferrill the Rittenhouse Medal for Excellence, its highest honor, recognizing his 26 years of service as a support services specialist in the mint’s financial management department.

The Royal Mint has returned to yellow gold with the launch of its 2026 Sovereign Collection. It has also added advanced security to its Sovereign bullion coins, which feature Benedetto Pistrucci’s iconic portrayal of St. George and the Dragon.

A 348.5g Prague-minted 100 ducat “gold giant” of Ferdinand III of Habsburg sold for CHF 2,388,750 (nearly US$3 million) in Numismatica Ars Classica’s second “Traveller Collection’ auction, making it the most expensive post-antique European gold coin ever auctioned.
