This week’s headlines include Iran’s 10 million rial bank note, the Bank of Canada Museum exhibits, Long Beach Expo success, and the 2026 Q. David Bowers Award recipient.

Iran has introduced a 10 million rial bank note amid soaring inflation and rising prices. The pink note, now the nation’s highest denomination, features Yazd’s Jameh Mosque and the Bam Citadel and is worth about US$7.50.

March 23 is the last day to visit the Bank of Canada Museum’s latest exhibits: “Money That Almost Was,” featuring unissued Canadian bank note designs, and “The Greatest Stories Ever Told,” Ho Tam’s artistic take on money’s symbolism. Admission to the Ottawa museum is free.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries debuted its first Long Beach Expo under new ownership on February 18-20. The show, now in its 62nd year, was a success, drawing strong crowds and a full bourse floor. Upcoming expos are set for September 2026 and March 2027.

The Central States Numismatic Society (CSNS) will present its 2026 Q. David Bowers Award to U.S. Mint Director Paul Hollis at the CSNS convention on April 23. The honor recognizes Hollis’s lifelong numismatic contributions, leadership, scholarship, and dedication to advancing coin collecting.
