This week’s headlines include a panel on exonumia at the World’s Fair of Money, two Civil War soldiers posthumously receive the Medal of Honor, and a new Stack’s Bowers Galleries office in Europe.

The Token and Medal Society (TAMS) will host an “Ask the Experts” forum on August 7 at the 2024 World’s Fair of Money in Rosemont, Illinois. Numismatist author and exonumia specialist David Schenkman will act as moderator and lead a distinguished panel of token and medal experts.

The final two Civil War soldiers who participated in Andrews’ Raid, Philip “Perry” Gephart Shadrach and George Davenport Wilson, posthumously received the Medal of Honor during a ceremony at the White House on July 3.

Whitman expects to release the third volume of the sixth edition of Cherrypickers’ Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coins on July 30. Volume 3 examines die varieties for half dollars, dollars, gold dollars through double eagles, classic commemoratives, bullion coinage, and issues of the Philippines.

Stack’s Bowers Galleries has opened an office in Copenhagen, Denmark. Michael Fornitz, a native Copenhagener who has 40 years of experience in the auction field, will lead the firm’s newest location.
