This week’s headlines include jail time for coin thieves, PNG’s Tina Bellanca’s retirement, new Falkland Islands bank notes, and the 2025 U.S. Mint Silver Proof Set.

Three men were sentenced to up to 11 years for stealing 483 ancient Celtic gold coins from the Celtic and Roman Museum in the Bavarian town of Manching, Germany. The stolen coins date to around 100 B.C.

After 21 years of dedicated service, Tina Bellanca will retire as executive assistant of the Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG) at the end of August. Known for her professionalism and warmth, Bellanca played a key role in supporting PNG leadership and members.

The Falkland Islands government is hosting a public reception to celebrate the launch of new bank notes featuring King Charles III and native wildlife on August 13 at the Historic Dockyard Museum. The new designs will enter circulation on Falklands Day on August 14.

The 2025 U.S. Mint Silver Proof Set will be available on August 7. The $150 set features 10 coins, including the final five American Women Quarters, a Native American $1 coin, silver dime, half dollar, nickel, and cent.
