This week’s headlines include a Texas Innovation Dollar celebration, countdown to America’s semiquincentennial, upcoming CCAC meeting, and PNG record-breaking membership.

Texas will mark the launch of the Texas Innovation Dollar with a special July 29 celebration at NASA Houston. The event honoring STEM, numismatics, and NASA’s founding will feature giveaways and guest speakers, including astronaut Jerry Ross. Attendees will receive a complimentary official “early release” set of U.S. Mint P and D dollars.

The U.S. Mint began the 365-day countdown to America’s 250th anniversary on July 4. For one year only, U.S. 2026 circulating coins will feature bold designs to celebrate this historic milestone. The semiquincentennial designs will be revealed later this year.

The U.S. Mint’s Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee  will hold a public videoconference on July 22 to review and discuss coin designs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Everett Alvarez Jr. Congressional Gold Medal, and the Numismatic Themes Working Group report.

The Professional Numismatists Guild has reached a record-high number of members, thanks to inclusive efforts by Director John Feigenbaum. Membership now stands at 319 dealers, of which 60 have joined in the past 2 years. Members must meet strict standards and follow a rigorous code of ethics.
