This week’s headlines include presidential medals, Stack’s Bowers Galleries, PNG award nominations, and U.S. Mint Director Paul Hollis.

The U.S. Mint will honor four more presidents in 2026 as part of its Silver Presidential Medals series. Woodrow Wilson, Warren G. Harding, Herbert Hoover, and Calvin Coolidge will appear on this year’s releases, starting with Wilson on February 11.

After a record-breaking 2024, Stack’s Bowers Galleries reported another banner year in 2025, selling 134,000-plus lots across 130 auctions for over $325 million, highlighted by multimillion-dollar rarities including the $6 million James A. Stack 1804 silver dollar and $4.5 million 1794 Flowing Hair silver dollar.

The Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG) is accepting nominations for its 2026 awards, with submissions due by February 23. Winners will be announced April 22 at the PNG banquet during the Central States Numismatic Society convention in Chicago.

Paul Hollis was sworn in on January 5 as the 41st Director of the U.S. Mint. Nominated by President Donald J. Trump and confirmed by the Senate, Hollis is a longtime numismatist who brings decades of collecting, legislative, and leadership experience to the position.
