Photo: Getty Images/johan10The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will introduce redesigned bank notes into circulation later this year. SBP Governor Jameel Ahmed confirmed that the new notes, which would be rolled out gradually, mark an important step in modernizing Pakistan’s currency.

Possible motifs include designs highlighting European culture, or a combination of rivers, birds, and European institutions. The ECB will hold a design contest later this year and select the motifs in 2026.

In Roman times, Bunnik was located on the northern border of the Roman Empire. The hoard contained a mix of Roman and British coins, with the majority being Roman coins dated between 46 and 47 A.D. It is speculated that a Roman soldier likely buried the treasure after returning from England.
