This week’s headlines include BAC’s launch, upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup commemoratives, Congressional Gold Medal proposal, and polymer commemorative 1-rial notes.

Bullion Authentication Company (BAC) launched at the FUN Convention in Orlando on January 8. The business is the first to be dedicated solely to authenticating, grading, encapsulating, and certifying vintage and modern bullion.

The U.S. Mint has announced that details about the FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Program will be released in the coming months. Information will be shared online and via email ahead of the program’s official launch.

Legislation introduced last month seeks to award a Congressional Gold Medal for the 30 workers killed in 1971 and 1973 explosions at the Woodbine Thiokol Chemical Plant in Woodbine, Georgia. The corporation manufactured trip flares during the Vietnam War.

The Central Bank of Oman released a polymer commemorative 1-rial note into circulation on January 11 that features national landmarks and enhanced security elements. The legal-tender note will circulate alongside existing cotton-based 1-rial issues.
