This week’s headlines include access to historic Whitman publications through the Newman Numismatic Portal, Zimbabwean gold-backed currency, and a limited-edition Australian issue.

Two historic Whitman publications from the 1960s, the Whitman Coin Journal and the Whitman Coin Supply Merchandiser, can now be accessed for free at the Newman Numismatic Portal.

Zimbabwe has launched gold-backed currency to replace its Zimbabwean dollars in the hopes that it will help stabilize the economy and bring down inflation. The new Zimbabwe Gold will circulate alongside foreign currencies.

The Perth Mint is celebrating its 125th anniversary by offering limited-edition silver (mintage 7,500) and gold (mintage 500) coins. The coins featuring a kangaroo, kookaburra, and koala on the reverse will be released on April 9 and are expected to sell out quickly.

The Royal Canadian Mint has released a 2024 $20 silver coin to honor the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force and the generations who have served in this military branch. The reverse features several fighter planes from the past and present.
