This week’s headlines include Wozniak $2 bills, a call for artists, the 2026 Mayflower Compact quarters, and a Scottish counterfeiter.

Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak has been spending custom-made $2 bills for cash transactions for decades. Wozniak orders uncut sheets of $2 bills from the Bureau of Engraving and has them customized at a local print shop with the letters “WOZ.”

The U.S. Mint invites professional American artists to apply to its Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) by February 9. To be considered for the AIP, applicants must fill out an application form and submit 5-10 images of work from their portfolio.

New U.S. coins celebrating America’s 250th anniversary have started circulating. The Mayflower Compact quarters are now in circulation, while the remaining 2026 commemorative coins are scheduled for release later this year.

A Scottish man, Lee Mitchell, was sentenced to seven years in prison for counterfeiting bank notes. Police raided a factory in Rochdale, Scotland, and confiscated £380,000 in fake Royal Bank of Scotland £20 notes.
