This week’s headlines include a coin honoring Paul McCartney, NCBA’s support of a mentorship program, and a commemorative for Christian Gobrecht’s grave marker ceremony.

The British Royal Mint will release a new commemorative coin honoring former Beatles singer Paul McCartney. The £5 coin features the musician’s name, piano, and a bass guitar on the obverse.

The National Coin & Bullion Association (NCBA) is confirming its commitment to fostering the next generation of numismatists by contributing $5,000 to the Professional Numismatists Guild’s (PNG) NexGen Mentorship Program.

Internationally known business executive, investor, and television personality Kevin “Mr. Wonderful” O’Leary will be a spokesman for Universal Coin & Bullion of Beaumont, Texas, in a series of national television and print ads.

ANA President Tom Uram had 50 special commemorative medals created for attendees of the dedication ceremony for Christian Gobrecht’s grave marker. The ceremony for the final resting place of the third Chief Engraver of the United States Mint took place on November 13.
