This week’s headlines include the upcoming sale of 2024 American Eagle palladium coins, an Olympics medallion, and outstanding 1,000-krone Danish notes.

The U.S. Mint will be offering proof 2024-W American Eagle palladium coins for sale on September 5. The coins contain 1 ounce of .9995-fine palladium, and mintage is limited to 7,500.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass presented Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo with the official LA28 Handover Medallion designed and struck by the U.S. Mint during the closing ceremonies of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games. The medallion was struck as part of a tradition that honors the past while looking to the future. Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Games.

Since Denmark’s central bank announced it was phasing out the high-denomination 1,000-krone note, a total of 15.2 billion kroner have been handed in. Around 6.3 billion kroner in 1,000-krone notes remain outstanding. The note will cease to be legal tender on May 31, 2025.

An Australian man stole 63,000 limited-edition “Bluey” coins that were worth nearly $400,000. He is accused of stealing the $1 coins from a Sydney warehouse where he worked and then selling them online for 10 times their value. The coins are currently sold out from the Royal Australian Mint.
