This week’s headlines include 2025 cents, CCAC meeting, Bank of Jamaica cotton notes, and counterfeit technology.

Coin World reports that the U.S. Mint has enough cent planchets to strike 2025 coins before production of the denomination ends. Through April 1, the Denver Mint has produced 295.4 million 2025-dated Lincoln cents, and the Philadelphia Mint has produced 350 million cents.

The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a public meeting by videoconference from 2:00-3:30 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, April 15. The group will discuss the 2027 and later releases of the American Liberty 24k gold coin and silver medal. Members of the public may view the meeting’s live stream on the U.S. Mint’s YouTube channel.

The Bank of Jamaica announced that older bank notes made of cotton will no longer be legal tender from July 1. Denominations ranging between 50 and 5,000 Jamaican dollars will be affected. The bank stated cotton notes could be redeemed at face value for the newer polymer notes “indefinitely.”
