The National Coin & Bullion Association (NCBA) has awarded its 2026 Young Numismatists Scholarship for the ANA’s Summer Seminar to Nathaniel Hafran and Andrew Kriter. They will attend a weeklong session of the hobby’s premier educational event, held on the Colorado College campus in Colorado Springs.

Nathaniel Hafran

Nathaniel Hafran is a dedicated collector and writer with a passion for early American coinage, especially Seated Liberty dimes and early copper. Hafran has contributed multiple articles to the California State Numismatic Association’s magazine, covering topics such as die varieties of the 1807 large cent, colonial and state coinage beginnings, obsolete United States coinage, and more. He has delivered educational presentations on numismatics to groups at Cub Scout meetings and a high school Knowledge Fair, sharing his enthusiasm for the hobby and introducing others to coin collecting.

Andrew Kriter

Andrew Kriter is a coin dealer and researcher with a focus on Canadian and U.S. pieces. He operates his own numismatic business through social media, where he has built a dedicated following and strong connections within the Canadian and U.S. collecting communities. Kriter has attended Witter Coin U multiple times, where he forged meaningful professional relationships and deepened his expertise. His current research explores Canadian coins of 1858-1952 and Seated Liberty dollars. He has presented on a variety of topics, particularly overrated and underrated Canadian coins, and is working on significant numismatic research with publications forthcoming.

The Next Generation

“Andrew and Nathaniel represent the innovative spirit and scholarly drive that will carry numismatics forward,” says Patrick I. Perez, the scholarship committee chair. “Their research, entrepreneurial efforts, and willingness to educate others make them outstanding choices for this support.” NCBA Executive Director David Crenshaw adds, “This scholarship represents a meaningful investment in the longevity and vibrancy of our hobby. By enabling young talents like Andrew and Nathaniel to attend the ANA Summer Seminar, we help cultivate the next generation of knowledgeable collectors, researchers, and leaders.”
