NBS Publishing Grant Program

The Numismatic Bibliomania Society (NBS) is seeking book proposals and volunteers for a new publishing grant program designed to support numismatic authors and expand the availability of numismatic literature.

The program, approved unanimously by the NBS board last year, will provide support in two areas: grants toward printing costs for general numismatic books, and full publishing support for works focused primarily on numismatic literature.

For general numismatic books, NBS will provide $2,000 to $5,000 toward the printing costs of approved self-published works that advance new numismatic research. The grant will be paid directly to the printer after completion. Authors are responsible for research, manuscript preparation, the initial printer deposit, and distribution. Completed manuscripts and printer cost estimates must be reviewed by a three-member NBS publication committee.

NBS will also consider books centered on numismatic literature. For approved projects, NBS will cover publishing costs, potentially ranging from $5,000 to $20,000. NBS will serve as publisher and oversee production, distribution, and proceeds. After NBS expenses are covered, excess funds will be distributed to the author.

The society is also seeking volunteers to serve on proposal-review committees. Members should be familiar with the subject matter and able to evaluate research, writing, and presentation quality.
