Mary Sauvain has been appointed executive director of the Anti-Counterfeiting Educational Foundation (ACEF), effective August 1. She succeeds Beth Deisher, who had led the organization since April 2024. Deisher will serve as a consultant for one month to ensure a smooth transition.

Sauvain, who has served on ACEF’s board of directors since January 2024, brings decades of experience in counterfeit detection and numismatic education. She began her career at Kagin’s in 1979 and joined ANACS in 1984, where she advanced from grader to grader/authenticator/finalizer. Throughout her career, she has taught authentication and grading courses at the ANA’s Summer Seminar and at coin shows and clubs nationwide. She has also authored numerous counterfeit detection articles for The Numismatist and wrote the long-running “Coin Detective” column for Coin World. Sauvain will represent ACEF at the upcoming World’s Fair of Money in Pittsburgh.
