On December 4, the United States Mint and the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation celebrated the ceremonial striking of three commemorative coins to be produced in 2025 to honor the U.S. Marine Corps’ 250th anniversary. Founded on November 10, 1775, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Marines have fought from the shores of Tripoli to the valleys of Afghanistan with honor, courage, and commitment.

“We love doing first strikes for commemorative coins. It allows us to get the word out that these programs are coming out,” says Deputy Director of the U.S. Mint Kristie McNally, a Marines spouse herself. “We love being with the Marines Corps—37 percent of our employees are military and former military, and it is an honor to represent the Mint and the Marine Corps.”

The coins will be available for purchase starting on January 2. The set includes a gold $5 coin, silver dollar, and clad half dollar that depict the history, heritage, and legacy of the Marine Corps. Visit the U.S. Mint’s website for more details.
