An investor who recently purchased a historic building in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, found a plethora of vintage items, including stacks of coin-related materials, while he was cleaning out the property. The building, known as the Noon-Collins Inn, is a Federal-style structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Philip Noon, a key figure in the founding and settlement of Cambria County, built the house in 1834. Philip Collins, the home’s second occupant, was a world-renowned pioneer railroad builder. In 1905 D.E. Park bought the building and converted it into a YMCA, adding a gymnasium onto the back. Since then, the structure has housed the Ebensburg Borough Library and Cambria County Historical Society and has served as a theater and event venue, bed and breakfast, and restaurant.

During that time, the building came to host a collection of numismatic materials, including auction catalogs and issues of The Numismatist, most dating from the 1960s, addressed to either Frank or Marie B. Hessler. The building’s new owner is looking to sell the materials, and the American Numismatic Association is helping to find new homes for the collection.
