GreatCollections is offering the famed 1893-S Morgan dollar pedigreed to the Clapp and Eliasberg collections. Graded Mint State-65 by Professional Coin Grading Service and approved by Certified Acceptance Corporation, it is one of the most important Morgan silver dollars  to appear at auction in years. Bidding has already surpassed $700,000 for the unreserved auction, which concludes Sunday, August 9.

The coin is widely regarded as the second-finest known example of the key-date issue, trailing only the famed Vermeule specimen that GreatCollections sold for a record $2,086,875 in 2021. Known as the “King of the Morgan Dollars,” the 1893-S boasts the lowest business-strike mintage in the series at just 100,000 coins. Most entered circulation during the Panic of 1893, and many were later melted under the Pittman Act, leaving only a handful of gem-quality survivors.
