To continue celebrating the 150-plus colossal sculptures that can be found throughout Australia, the Royal Australian Mint and Australia Post have launched the Aussie Big Things 2 coin program. Australia’s Big Things are massive landmarks created to draw visitors to various regions. The first tribute series was released in 2023 and featured 10 favorite giant statues. The 2025 $1 coins depict 10 more large-scale tourist attractions, including:

  • The Big Merino (50-foot tall sheep in New South Wales)
  • The Big Golden Guitar (40 feet tall, in New South Wales)
  • The Big Penguin (10 feet tall, in Tasmania)
  • The Big Galah (26-foot tall bird in South Australia)
  • The Big Rocking Horse (59 feet tall, in South Australia)
  • The Big Wheelbarrow (21 feet tall, in Western Australia)
  • The Big Prawn (13 feet long, in Western Australia)
  • The Big Strawberry (20 feet tall, in Victoria)
  • The Big Barramundi (13-foot long fish in the Northern Territory)
  • The Big Mango (33 feet tall, in Queensland)

The obverse of each piece bears King Charles III’s effigy. With an unlimited mintage, these uncirculated pieces are priced at AU$4 each. A set with all 10 designs is available for AU$34, as is a 2-coin proof set for AU$70 with a mintage limited to 5,000. Visit the mint’s website for more information about these fun collectibles that serve as mementos of the Australian road trip experience.
