The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) and the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) recently reviewed designs for the next release in the U.S. Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program. This new design will feature DC’s Green Lantern—one of three DC superheroes to be honored in 2026, alongside Robin and Supergirl. Both panels agreed on the obverse but selected different reverse designs.

The top obverse pick, Design O-03, features John Stewart, Earth’s third Green Lantern. After reviewing the proposals, Warner Bros. favored O-01. For the reverse, the CCAC selected R-03, showing Stewart’s glowing power ring. The CFA preferred R-05, which includes the ring and Green Lantern symbol, highlighting Stewart’s engineering skills.

Green Lantern coins, like the 2025 issues featuring Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, will be issued in various formats. These include 1/2-ounce 24kt gold $50 coins, 2.5-ounce and 1-ounce silver medals, and 1.2-inch clad medals. All formats share the same obverse and reverse motifs, with minor differences such as the absence of inscriptions and dates on certain medals.

Future releases will include The Flash, Batgirl, and Aquaman, which are planned for 2027.
