The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) will hold a public meeting by videoconference on Tuesday, November 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (ET). The group will review designs for the Shirley Chisholm Congressional Gold Medal, Native American $1 coins (2027-28), American Youth Sports quarters (2027-30), Paralympic half dollars (2027-30), and the 2026 Semiquincentennial $1 coin. The public is invited to watch the proceedings live on the U.S. Mint’s YouTube channel.

As we reported last week, the White House has fired the entire U.S. Commission of Fine Arts (CFA). Along with the CCAC, this group advises the Secretary of the Treasury on U.S. circulating and commemorative coinage and medal designs. We asked the mint what kind of impact the firing would have on the upcoming releases and whether it might cause any delays. A mint spokesperson responded that “the CFA’s status should have no impact on the scheduled November 18 meeting of the CCAC.  When the CFA is ready and able to resume its work, we intend to share designs that have already been reviewed by the CCAC, thus minimizing the impact of any delays. We recognize that the CFA’s status (both due to lack of membership and lapse in appropriations) has the potential to delay the Mint in moving forward with recommendations to the Secretary of the Treasury on several coin and medal programs, and we are hopeful that the CFA will be able to resume its duties soon.”
