Whitman Brands has launched a new and improved 5th edition of United States Paper Money Errors. Originally released by the Coin & Currency Institute under Art Friedberg, this book is the first in Whitman’s new Professional Series™. These references are tailor-made for serious collectors who crave a deep dive into the numismatic hobby’s key collectibles. Despite the series’ name, these references have an audience with seasoned collectors and those just starting out.

This extensively researched and well-illustrated guide by father-daughter duo Dr. Frederick J. Bart and Bianca Bart focuses on “oops” notes—anomalies born of misprints, folds, and overprints that slip through the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s (BEP) production process. This fully updated edition contains more than 550 full-color images, detailed explanations of the errors, rarity guides, and pricing for up to four grades. This reference also gives readers an interesting behind-the-scenes glimpse into the BEP to show the A-Z of how notes are made—and how errors sometimes make it past gatekeepers.

“This book couldn’t come at a better time,” says Whitman Chief Executive Officer John Feigenbaum. “The market for error notes is booming, especially among younger collectors.”

One of the hobby’s most influential figures, Dr. Bart has spent decades researching and popularizing paper-currency errors. His daughter, Bianca Bart—chief executive officer of Executive Currency since 2023—took to the hobby quickly, becoming the third youngest inductee into the Professional Numismatists Guild.

Available mid-July, United States Paper Money Errors can be preordered at Whitman.com, Amazon, and major booksellers.
